AKDENIZ UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF FINE ARTS

Akdeniz University Faculty of Fine Arts started education in 1999 with the departments of Painting, Sculpture, Graphics, and Ceramics, and continued with Photography in 2000-2001, Cinema-TV and Music departments in 2002-2003, and Basic Education Department in 2006-2007. With the inclusion of the Traditional Turkish Arts Department in 2010-2011 and the Textile and Fashion Design Department in 2017-2018, it continued to expand its vision by increasing the number of active departments.

Akdeniz University Faculty of Fine Arts, since its establishment in 1999, continues to provide well-equipped individuals who dominate the social, cultural, and artistic dynamics existing in the world and in Turkey and contribute to these dynamics through art. Our faculty aims to train artists who have a good command of art theory and practices, have critical and analytical thinking, are aware of the current dynamics of art and science in the world and in Turkey, and have the ability to apply these dynamics in their original productions.

In our faculty; education is carried out in nine departments, namely Painting, Sculpture, Graphics, Ceramics, Photography, Radio-Television-Cinema, Music, Traditional Turkish Arts, Fashion, and Textile Design. The Department of Basic Education conducts art history and theory courses, open to all departments. In addition, the Departments of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage and Stage Decorations and Costumes, which have just joined our faculty, aim to complete their academic structuring in the coming years and start education with student admission.

Our faculty encourages and supports the active participation of students and academics in programs such as Mevlâna, Farabi, Erasmus, and Erasmus+, which contribute to our national and international artistic-academic institutional representation. We have a faculty journal named Akdeniz Art Journal, which has been published since 2007 and has been scanned by international indexes such as EBSCO and CEEAS, and contributes to the conversion of artistic-scientific research and academic studies into publication.
