Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage

The department, which was established in 2019, aims to train experts who will carry out analysis, protection, and restoration operations on archaeological and cultural structures and objects defined as "Cultural Heritage". Raising individuals who have the qualifications to carry out the necessary consultancy and practices in the process of preserving the works in public and private collections is also among the objectives. In this context, it is aimed to protect and repair monuments, civil architectural structures, and historical buildings defined as "immovable cultural heritage", artifacts found as a result of excavations and research defined as "movable cultural heritage", historical artworks and objects in the possession of museums with scientific methods. Along with international organizations such as UNESCO and ICOMOS and various scientific institutions, activities for the development of international protection standards, including preventive protection, are also among the activities of the department. Within the framework of the above-mentioned objectives, the scientific criteria related to the protection, exhibition, repair, inventory, and arrangement of movable cultural and artistic objects are focused on in the field of "Conservation and Restoration of Artifacts".
